Door Supervision

       


If you want to work as a door supervisor in England and Wales, you need to have a licence issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA), which was set up by the government to regulate the private security industry, including door supervision. Without a licence you can’t legally work on the door of any licensed premises.

This course will cover:

Unit 1 – Roles and Responsibilities of Door Supervisors

This includes admission policies and procedures, refusing entry, searching, seizing articles, eviction, use of force and offensive weapons, how to deal with incidents, studying relevant legislation. You will also learn how to comply with the law; drugs, arrest, scene preservation and report writing.

Unit 2 – Conflict management for Door Supervisors

This unit includes managing conflict by applying dynamic risk approaches, understanding the importance of self awareness and being proactive, how to diffuse conflict by overcoming communications blocks, signalling non-aggression and managing high risk situations, how to resolve conflict, and how to learn from conflict.

What do I need to get onto the course?

There are no entry requirements for the Door supervisor’s course.

How will I be assessed?

For unit 1, there will be a 40 minute multiple choice examinations. In order to pass the exam candidates need to achieve a minimum of 24/40 in both units. The examination will take place at the end of the second day of each unit. For unit 2 candidates are required to watch a series of video clips before answering 40 questions in 1 hour.
